The Human Development Forum Foundation (HDFF), a Thai Foundation focused on human security issues, is co-hosting a full-day forum with The Asia Foundation (TAF) to promote further understanding and awareness of ASEAN integration 2015. In its fifth session, HDFF’s Chairman’s Circle will focus on non-traditional security challenges and the efforts of ASEAN member states to create bilateral and multilateral approaches to emerging challenges. The forum aims to address the major current issues affecting global politics today and the potential impacts towards the ASEAN region. Particular focus will be on religious extremism, with in-depth analysis on the rapid expansion of the Islamic State (IS) by Dr. Rommel Banlaoi, Executive Director of the Philippine Institute for Peace, Violence and Terrorism. Our expert panelists will also explore ASEAN policies towards refugees and migration, regional health issues, and non-traditional security issues.
